Description

One of the most fun RPGs I've played in a while. The best part was that I got it on a sale from 14.99 to just 4.99 (I had to buy a new SD card because my old one was already full of downloaded games). This is a fun open world RPG that takes some of the battle system of the mother series, but with multiple way to play it. First off you can only fight enemies in teams of three which sounds limiting, but you have 40 optional characters to fight enemies with (Yes 40, and they all play differently). Not only that each character also brings a special ability that will effect the game from something mild like a store. to zooming the camera, to changing the time of day, and to even changing the difficulty. In order to unlock each character you'll need to accomplish some sort of task that's either easy like just getting an item to leveling up all of the current members of your party to level 20 to unlock (Totally real) Pregnant Yoga instructor (Who admittedly isn't the best character for fighting, and her ability isn't something most casual players will bother to use). One important thing to also note is that when one of your characters level up they'll also receive a bonus based on who is currently in the three man team, so there is some depth in how you play the game. Plus there's more than one way to approach each main story goal, so you don't have to get one specific character, but rather you could recruit one of several characters to get to your destination.
Now this game does have some flaws. For one you'll need to know that you can open the area map by pressing the R button (shamefully I didn't know, and I played through the entire game just using the small map on the bottom screen), but there's no world map and you have no map inside of any building so it's very easy to get lost in this game even with map markers. Another issue is that some of the quests to recruit are either impossible to accomplish without playing through most of the game (Such as the Cat lady and the Beekeeper), Some random thing you wouldn't even think of doing (Such as the Coffee girl and Pharmacist), or random chance (Such as the scientist and the weather lady), but luckily you keep all your recruited characters in new game +. Another annoying thing is that enemies will always respawn when you leave part of the area, so you'll have to fight thousands of enemies you're tired of fighting because you can easily crush them until you've completed the main quest there. Another issue is that each Character's special ability level up to 3, so to unlock everything you have to grind almost every character up to max ability level. Also the game can get a little unstable and the game crashed on me twice through my first playthrough.
Overall it's a good game with some minor flaws that can get a bit annoying over the course of the game, but overall I though the game was worth the price (especially because of the price drop) and I would recommend the game to RPG fans and mother fans, and since you can save anywhere (along with an auto save every time you enter an area) you don't have to worry about the game crashing as long as you save often. And if you get tired of the music you can switch the music to retro mode through the in game options menu. If any of you have any trouble with the game you can also ask me for advice anytime
